My family LOVES this place! First off, I really appreciate that they have so many samples throughout the store so you can try new things. We are obsessed with their old fashioned Polish sausage. It's literally the best Polish sausage I've ever had in my life. The smoky flavor is so delicious. You can get it for $3.49 a pound and it's definitely worth it! They have an excellent hot bar that changes daily. Two meat and two sides is $9.99 and they give you big portions. We really loved the salisbury steak,Polish sausage, chicken cutlet, potato pancake, sweet and sour chicken, cabbage and noodles and pierogies. My fiancé isn't Polish but said their water is better than any water he's ever had. It literally tastes so clean and you can tell the difference. The apple cake is so good too. We are big fans of this store!

my wife n i love this place real real polish food everything is delicious freshly made and the staff is knowledgeable and very friendly

All you could possibly want from a Polish Grocery Store! Many food choices including boxes and ready to carry out. Service is fast and everyone was friendly. The overall look of the store it a little much for me, almost made me dizzy! So much to look at I was having trouble focusing

Went for the first time and was very impressed! Picked up some hot, fresh pierogi, and they were delicious! I just about ate half a dozen as soon as I got in my car. Aldo picked up some homemade soup, and they were so delicious! I will definitely be returning weekly.

Very impressed. I thought this was going to be a small place but no it's not. They have a very large selection of polish food , maybe one of the largest in all the south of Chicago. I have to confess that don't know much about polish food, so this kid behind the counter, Igor started making recommendations for hams, sausages, hot food. He told us about this on site made bacon roll that is to die for. Really good place and the prices are not even bad. I will be back!

The food and service is excellent. Food is fresh. for customer service. I will patronize this store without hesitation.

Stopped in to check it out. It's an amazing store. Lots of homemade lunch meats. Hot food nice selection. Costumer service outstanding. Will be taking a road trip in the near future to shop again.

A Polish grocery store! Who knew there was such a thing in Indiana. My little 1/4 Polish self was incredibly happy to discover Carpathia when I visited the northern part of the state. I was just passing through, but if I lived around here, I would have indulged in some of the freshly sliced meats, the house-made soups and salads, and refrigerated items. But I didn't have access to a refrigerator, so I just got a rose water paczki, some Polish apple gum, and a jar of Polish hazelnut chocolate spread (like Nutella, but eastern European). While I browsed the store, I noticed that there were lots of samples everywhere. I had a sample of some sort of apple cake, which was delicious. A neat thing about this grocery store is that there are QR codes everywhere that will give you translations and more info about the products, because most of the products are in a different language. I definitely used those QR codes a couple of times to find out more info about some of the food that I saw. I might be a quarter Polish, but unfortunately, I know 0% of the language. The deli area of the grocery store seemed to be super popular, as was the bread section, because there were lots of people at both. Honestly, the whole store was hopping, which made me happy. Carpathia is a gem, and I wish I lived closer!

Just purchased some frozen pierogi, and they're the best I've found in this area. The potato and cheese variety is especially delicious. Tried the sweet cheese too, and it was perfect. However, the spinach and feta option has more spinach than cheese, just a heads up. Still tasty though! I recommend cooking them this way instead of boiling--they turned out fantastic! To prepare 12-16 frozen pierogi, start by heating 4 tablespoons of salted butter in a skillet. Once the butter is melted, add chopped green onion and sauté until fragrant. Then, place the frozen pierogi in the skillet over medium-high heat. Cover with a lid and cook for 5 minutes. Afterward, flip the pierogi and cover again, cooking for an additional 5 minutes until both sides are golden brown.

The first thing you notice when you walk in is the amazing smell coming from the hot bar. A wonderful pastiche of savory dishes like pork chops, pierogi, halupki, and one of my absolute favorites, hunter's stew. All made in house from friendly people who really know their stuff. But you can't get to the hot bar without first walking past the deli case, which is absolutely packed with mouth-watering cuts of Polish and Eastern European meats like smoked chicken logs, spare ribs, and various kinds of cheeses like feta and sheep's milk cheese. Walk a little further in, and you'll see various baked goods like kolache and paczki as well as delicious cakes with pumpernickel and rye loaves to make a delicious sandwich with the meats and cheeses from the aforementioned deli case. The baked goods aren't made in-house, but it's hardly a knock against them. If you can manage to tear yourself away from all the deliciousness, you can start walking the aisles of the actual grocery store, which has various Polish-brand canned and jarred goods, like Cracovia, Vavel, and Krakus, as well as fresh produce, like free-range eggs and vegetables. When you're finally ready to check out, you can pay for all your goods at actual cash registers manned by actual people. A nice change of pace from automated stations at Walmart. The only thing that I could nitpick about it is there's no place to sit down and eat your delicious hot food inside. And the inadequate parking lot will only get more crowded once word gets out about the new spot. But it's still a small price to pay to have delicious bigos made hot and fresh without the hassle of cooking at home. Dzięki! Na Zdrowie!
